Wednesday Night Matchups
Purdue (13-5) at Penn State (10-7) 7:00 BTN Penn State has dropped three straight to fall to 2-3 in conference. The freefall started when Geary Claxton injured his ACL in the Lion's game against Minnesota. Claxton is out for the season and Penn State might as well be too. They simply aren't the same team without him. Purdue has been the surprise team so far in the Big Ten as they are off to a 4-1 start with their only blemish a 3-point loss at Michigan State. The young Boilers are poised to make a serious run at postseason play, but they need to take care of business on the road tonight and can't afford to look past Penn State to the huge game against Wisconsin this weekend. BTC Prediction*: Purdue 72 Penn State 60 Iowa (9-10) at Indiana (16-1) 9:00 BTN When these teams met in early January Indiana "escaped" Iowa City with a 79-76 victory. I say "escaped" hesitantly since the game wasn't really as close as the final score would indicate. Iowa was trailing by 13 with two minutes to play, but they made the loss look much more respectable thanks mostly to Justin Johnson "going ass-bananas". (Chronicled here at Black Heart Gold Pants) The bad news for Iowa is now Johnson finds himself slumping, and Indiana is really good. The Hoosiers have proven they can win on the road in the Big Ten without major contributions from the conference's leading scorer Eric Gordon (22.4 PPG). For as good as Gordon has been, D.J. White has been the consistent force inside that paces the Hoosiers' success. White is averaging 16.9 points per game and also leads the Big Ten in rebounding (10.6 RPG). BTC Prediction*: Indiana 68 Iowa 54 * BTC Predictions Current Record: 15-3 |
