Where are they now? Rick Rickert

Rick Rickert played center for the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 2001 to 2003. Rickert was named the 2001 Minnesota Mr. Basketball as a high school senior and came to Minnesota after previous commitments with Arizona and Duke. He became the Gopher's first ever Big Ten Freshman of the Year after averaging 15 points and 5 rebounds per game in 2001-02. Rickert averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds per game in his sophomore season and declared for the 2003 NBA Draft after just two years at Minnesota. Rickert was drafted in the 2nd Round of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 55th overall pick. He failed to make the team and decided to play professionally in Europe. Rickert has since played for various European teams as well as in the NBA's Development League. He was selected to the NBADL's 2007 All-Star Game while playing for the Fayetteville Patriots. Rick Rickert currently is playing professionally for the New Zealand Breakers of Australia's National Basketball League.
