2/20/07 - Upset Alert!

Well that didn't take long. Michigan State spoiled Wisconsin's first game ever as the #1 ranked team in the AP Poll tonight with a 64-55 upset victory over the Badgers in East Lansing. The Spartans were led by Drew Neitzel, who scored 28 points on 17 shots. Neitzel also connected on 6 of his 11 three point attempts. But once again, the story of the game was Michigan State's defense. Wisconsin was held to just 36.5% shooting and a season low 55 points. The Badgers were led in scoring by Marcus Landry who came off the bench and poured in 18 points on just 10 shots. The Spartans have now won 3 in a row since that embarrassing 2nd half at Purdue and improve to 7-6 in Conference play. Michigan State may have just played themselves off the bubble and into the Big Dance with 3 games remaining (Indiana, at Michigan, and at Wisconsin).
